I jumped for Joeli because of the way she plays with light. I was so drawn to how she would take (what could easily be) a mundane contemporary piece of art and turn it into something bright, colorful and beautiful! Not that there was anything even remotely colorful and bright about my characters (except for Helyria’s scars maybe) but Joeli breathed so much life into them. It felt so good to see my beautiful babies in real art like that!
